High school career
Griffin rushed for 1,787 yards and scored 170 points in 11 games, including 29 touchdowns, as a senior running back at Eastmoor High School (now Eastmoor Academy) in Columbus, Ohio. That year he led Eastmoor to the Columbus City League championship, rushing for 267 yards on 31 carries in the title game against Linden-McKinley High School. In his junior year, Griffin had also rushed for over 1,000 yards.

Honors
In 1996 Griffin was inducted into the high school hall of fame.
Eastmoor Academy renamed their playing field "Archie Griffin Field" in his honor.

College career
Griffin played for the Ohio State University Buckeyes from 1972-75. Among Ohio State University college football fans, Griffin holds a status akin to a living folk hero. Former Ohio State head coach Woody Hayes said of Griffin, "He's a better young man than he is a football player, and he's the best football player I've ever seen."[3]
In 1972 Griffin was a T-formation halfback, and from 1973 through 1975 he was the team's I-formation tailback. He led the Buckeyes in rushing as a freshman with 867 yards, but his numbers exploded the following year with the team's conversion to the I-formation. He rushed for 1,428 yards in the regular season as a sophomore, 1,620 as a junior, 1,357 as a senior. Griffin is the only back to lead the Big Ten Conference in rushing for three straight years. Overall, Griffin rushed for 5,589 yards on 924 carries in his four seasons with the Buckeyes (1972-1975), then an NCAA record. He had 6,559 all-purpose yards and scored 26 touchdowns. In their four seasons with Griffin as their starting running back, the Buckeyes posted a record of 40-5-1.[4] Griffin is the only player in collegiate football history to start four Rose Bowl games.
Griffin introduced himself to Ohio State fans in his second game as a freshman by setting a school single-game rushing record of 239 yards in the second game of the 1972 season, against North Carolina, breaking a team record that had stood for 27 seasons. Ironically, his only carry in his first game had resulted in a fumble. He broke his own record as a sophomore with 246 rushing yards in a game against the Iowa Hawkeyes. Over his four-year collegiate career, Griffin rushed for at least 100 yards in 34 games, including an NCAA record 31 consecutive games.

Honors
Griffin finished fifth in the Heisman vote in his sophomore year and won the award as a junior and senior. In addition to his two Heisman Trophies, Griffin won many other College Awards. He is one of two players to win The Big 10 Most Valuable Player Award twice (1973-1974). United Press International named him Player of the Year twice (1974-1975), the Walter Camp Foundation named him top player twice (1974-1975), he won the Maxwell Award (1975), and Sporting News named him Man of the Year (1975). Griffin is also the only player in NCAA history to start in four Rose Bowl games in a single career.
The College Football Hall of Fame enshrined Griffin in 1986. Ohio State enshrined him their own Varsity O Hall of Fame in 1981 and officially retired his number, #45, in 1999. He was inducted into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame in 1990. In 2007, he was ranked #21 on ESPN's Top 25 Players In College Football History list.

Professional football career
In the 1976 NFL Draft, he was the first-round draft choice of the Cincinnati Bengals, selected as the 24th overall pick in the draft. He played 7 seasons in the NFL, all with the Bengals (1976-1982). He was joined in the backfield with his college fullback teammate Pete Johnson, who was drafted by the Bengals in 1977. During his 7 NFL seasons, he rushed for 2808 yards and 7 touchdowns, and caught 192 passes for 1607 yards and 6 touchdowns. Griffin played in Super Bowl XVI with the Bengals after the 1981 season.
After his career with the Bengals ended, Griffin played briefly with the Jacksonville Bulls of the United States Football League.

Career after football
Griffin is currently the President of The Ohio State University Alumni Association. He is also the current spokesman for the Wendy's High School Heisman award program. Formerly, he served as Assistant Athletic Director for The Ohio State University. Griffin is a favorite interview for broadcasters during slow moments in football coverage due to his generosity with his time and his humble and friendly demeanor.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers / 4th / 111th pick / 2004

Will Allen (born June 17, 1982, in Dayton, Ohio) is an American football player who currently plays safety for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL. He was selected in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

College career
Allen was a four-year letterwinner for the Ohio State Buckeyes, and was a consensus first-team All-America selection in his senior year. In his first three seasons at Ohio State he played behind three-time All American Mike Doss, seeing action on the field primarily in nickle coverage on passing down.
Allen is perhaps best remembered among college football fans for two plays made during the 2002 national championship season. The first occurred during the 2002 Ohio State-Michigan game, intercepting a pass from Michigan quarterback John Navarre during the closing seconds to preserve the 14-9 victory and an undefeated regular season. The second play was only one game later in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl for the national championship. In the second half, Allen tackled Miami running back Willis McGahee and delivered a forearm blow to his left knee. McGahee had to be helped off the field; he suffered ligament damage and was forced to miss his whole rookie year in the NFL.

Professional career
Allen played in every game in his rookie year on special teams but saw increasing time as a safety in the final weeks of the season. He made his first NFL interception against the Carolina Panthers and his first touchdown in week 6 of the following season against the Miami Dolphins. He started eight games in 2005, playing at both free safety and strong safety due to injuries to Jermaine Phillips and Dexter Jackson.
Allen's most noted contribution in his young NFL career occurred against the Green Bay Packers in 2005, when he twice intercepted Packer quarterback Brett Favre in the fourth quarter. Buccaneers starting safety, Dexter Jackson, had been injured midway through the second quarter with a hamstring strain. Allen came into the game as a substitute.
Later that season Allen made a hit on Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith. Smith rolled over onto his knees and then onto his back where he lay for a while. Allen was the Buccaneer's starter at free safety for the 2006 season.

College career
He then attended the Ohio State University, where he was a starter for three years. As a freshman, Anderson played behind Ryan Pickett on the depth chart. When Pickett skipped his senior season to enter the NFL draft, Anderson stepped up and that season recorded three sacks and nine tackles for loss. Anderson's best remembered play at Ohio State came in the 2002 national championship season, when he batted down a fourth-down pass from Illinois's Jon Beutjer in overtime to preserve Ohio State's 23-16 victory. He enjoyed tailgating after the games with his familyy and his close family friends the Bursons. James D. Burson is also his dentist.

College
After graduating from Middletown High School, in Middletown, Ohio as a very highly recruited and standout ball player, Bell went on to play for the Ohio State University as a four-year starter at defensive back. He played as a roverback, a hybrid of the strong safety and linebacker positions. His best remembered moment at Ohio State was a game-winning touchdown in his junior year against rival Michigan on November 17, 1979. When Ohio State linebacker Jim Laughlin blocked a punt by Michigan's Brian Virgil, Bell scooped up the football and ran it in 18 yards and a final score of 18-15. This play sent Ohio State to the 1980 Rose Bowl and a shot at that year's national championship.
Bell was selected in the fourth round of the 1981 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears.

NFL career
He played with the team from 1981 to 1984, earning a Pro Bowl nomination in his fourth year. Bell was known on the team for his hits on opposing team players, and for his off-the-field reputation as a prankster. Bell sat out the entire 1985 season due to a contract dispute with the team - and missed being part of one of the most dominating Super Bowl teams of all time. His replacement, Dave Duerson, also went on to be selected for the Pro Bowl that year.
Bell returned in 1986, but a hamstring injury and the contract dispute still lingered over his tenure with the Bears, and he signed a free agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles in the off-season in 1988. He played two years with the Eagles before he broke his leg in a 31-13 loss to the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football on October 2, 1989, which prematurely ended his career.

Death
On March 16, 2005, Bell suffered a fatal heart attack while driving his car in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. [1] He was 47. His wife Daphne now speaks to people on learning how to detect if they are at risk of having a heart attack.

Todd Anthony Bell National Resource Center on the African American Male
In 1997 Todd Bell returned to The Ohio State University to accept a position as Coordinator of the Minority Continuing Education Opportunities Program in the Office of Continuing Education, then lodged in University College. There he worked with Dean Mac Stewart to give leadership to outreach with the central Ohio community. He fostered cooperation with local businesses to provide funding for their employees to start or return to college studies at OSU. He also worked with the personnel of local Boys & Girls Clubs to develop joint ventures to improve the environment of the neighborhoods near the central campus. In 2001 he moved to the Office of Minority Affairs where he coordinated a broad range of community-university programs. Notably, on campus he gave initial leadership to the development of the Black Male Initiative to improve the campus environment, academic achievement, and leadership development of African American males at The Ohio State University and he was part of the team that developed the African American Male Resource Center. When Todd passed away in 2005, the center was renamed to The Todd Anthony Bell National Resource Center on the African American Male to honor his work at the university and with African American male students.

Early years
He graduated from Humble High School in Humble, Texas.

College career
Boston was a three-year starter for the Ohio State Buckeyes (1996-98). His 191 pass receptions as a Buckeye remains a team record, as does his career average of 5.2 receptions per game and 959 career punt return yards. His 2,835 receiving yards were a school record until surpssed by Michael Jenkins in 2003. With 36 career touchdown receptions (and one two-point conversion), Boston averaged 5.89 points per game.
Boston had a career full of highlights at Ohio State, but his best-remembered moment remains his game-winning 5-yard touchdown reception of a pass from quarterback Joe Germaine with 19 seconds remaining in the 1997 Rose Bowl. He is also known for his bubbly personality and the battles that he had on the field with Heisman Trophy-winning cornerback Charles Woodson of the Michigan Wolverines.

Professional career

Arizona Cardinals
Boston left Ohio State with a year of eligibility remaining, and was drafted in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. He had his best season in 2001 in which he had 98 receptions for 1598 yards and 8 touchdowns. He also made the Pro Bowl that year as a starter.

San Diego Chargers
Boston signed a seven-year, $53 million contract with the San Diego Chargers in 2003. That season he caught 70 passes for 880 yards and 7 touchdowns, however he fit in poorly with the rest of a struggling team. Coach Marty Schottenheimer suspended him for a game because of bad behavior. With their highly paid player a disappointment, new Chargers GM A.J. Smith traded Boston to the Miami Dolphins for a sixth round draft choice.

Miami Dolphins
Before the 2004 season, he tested positive for steroids and was ordered to serve a four-game suspension. The suspension became academic after he tore ligaments in his knee and was unable to play for the entire season. The Dolphins cut him at the end of the year, then proceeded to re-sign him for the veterans' minimum for 2005. He played in five games that year before tearing knee ligaments again.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
In 2006, Boston signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

College career
Byars was a tailback with the Ohio State Buckeyes from 1982 to 1985.
In 1984, he was runner-up for the Heisman Trophy (to Doug Flutie) after a season where he gained an OSU record 2,441 all-purpose yards, including a then-school record 1,764 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns. He was a unanimous first-team All-America selection, and voted the Big Ten Conference Most Valuable Player.
1984 featured a game against Illinois in which Byars led a comeback from a 24-0 deficit, rushing for 274 yards and five touchdowns, the last with 36 seconds remaining in the game. On his fourth touchdown run, going for 67 yards, he famously lost his left shoe at the Illini 40 but never broke stride.
Byars was a preseason favorite for the 1985 Heisman, but fractured the bone in his right foot near the little toe in preseason practice. He missed the first five games of the 1985 season, and returned too early. He reinjured the broken bone in his second game back and missed the remainder of the regular season. He attempted to return for the Citrus Bowl game on December 28, but reinjured his foot again in the second Ohio State offensive series of the game. Many observers note that throughout the remainder of his football career Byars was never as dominant a player as he had been in 1984.
Despite losing almost his entire senior year, Byars finished his college career at Ohio State with 4,369 total yards, 3,200 rushing yards, and 50 touchdowns. His 50 touchdowns remain the second most in school history.

NFL career
As a professional, he played fullback and tight end for the Philadelphia Eagles (1986-1992), Miami Dolphins (1993-1996), New England Patriots (1996-1997), and the New York Jets (1998). Byars was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1993.
A superb rusher, blocker, and pass receiver, Byars was a vital contributor for every team he played on. In 1988 he rushed for 517 yards, recorded 71 receptions(ranking him 9th in the NFL), and scored 10 touchdowns. In the Eagles 20-12 loss to the Chicago Bears in the postseason, he rushed for 34 yards and caught 9 passes for 103 yards. In 1990, he recorded 81 receptions for 819 yards, the third most receptions in the NFL, rushed for 141 yards, and even completed 4 of 4 passes for 53 yards and 4 touchdowns. In the 1996 season, Byars made his first and only championship appearance, playing with the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXI. His team lost the game 35-21, but the 33-year old Byars had a good performance in it, catching 4 passes for 42 yards and a touchdown.
In his 13 seasons, Byars rushed for 3,109 yards, caught 610 passes for 5,661 yards, returned 5 kickoffs for 94 yards, and completed 6 of 13 passes for 119 yards and 6 touchdowns, with 1 interception. He also scored 54 touchdowns (23 rushing and 31 receiving)

After Retirement
He is currently a television analyst for "New York Football Weekly" and This Week in Football on the YES Network.

With his passionate and competitive spirit, Eddie George has carved a special niche for himself in the professional sports arena, particularly the NFL where he is only the second NFL running back to rush for 10,000 yards while never missing a start, joining Jim Brown. Only Walter Payton (170) has started more consecutive regular-season games than George’s 128. In addition to the Heisman Trophy, George won several NFL Rookie of the Year awards in 1996, and was the Tennessee Titans’ starting tailback until 2003. Throughout his tenure as one of the NFL’s premier running backs, Eddie George not only possessed an explosive combination of speed, power and toughness, but was the epitome of durability. George’s punishing north-and-south running style won him the 1997 AP’s “Offensive Rookie of the Year” honors as well as four consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl from 1998-2001. Drafted in the first round by the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans, George owns virtually every franchise rushing record. He also led the AFC Champion Titans to Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000. Eddie also spent one season playing for the Dallas Cowboys.
